We were hoping to keep this secret, but with the amount of interest that was never going to happen. So here is the photo of our trial fit up, this is to make sure before restoration gets into full swing that there are no major glitches in alignment and symmetry. All looks good!
Looking amazing folks!!!
Also like careful quality control as evidenced by your inspector on the wing
I see Curtis is checking your work too
Is the original Sabre going in her? This is a dream come true to see 🙂
Hi Gary, The original engine is at this stage going back in but it is not a Sabre as the MKII has the Bristol, Centaurus radial. More powerfull and much more reliable.
Are you guys gonna get Kermit Weeks’ Sabre powered, ex-486 NZ Sqd Tempest finished & flying too?
Hi James Not sure how to answer all of your questions but here are the facts.
The Tempest we have here is a MKII and as such is powered by a Bristol Centaurus radial. We are not currently building a “Reno racer” but will do if you would like to fund.Unless you know something I don’t Kermit Week’s Sabre powered Tempest is under rebuild in England, there has been no discussion what so ever on us having a part in the rebuild.
Cheers
Paul
